In response to a recent statement by Vince McMahon's attorney, Greg Gutzler, the lawyer representing the five John Does in the latest lawsuit, issued a rebuttal. The lawsuit, filed on October 23, 2024, accuses McMahon, his wife Linda, WWE, and TKO Group Holdings of negligence in addressing the sexual abuse of underage ring boys by former WWE ring crew boss Mel Phillips.
McMahon's attorney, Jessica Rosenberg, dismissed the claims as
"Absurd, defamatory, and utterly meritless."
Referencing past unproven allegations from journalist Phil Mushnick. Gutzler countered by stating that the lawsuit contains multiple facts unrelated to Mushnick's claims, including evidence of Phillips' misconduct in plain sight.
Gutzler emphasized that McMahon did not deny informing others about Phillips' interest in young boys and that the McMahons initially fired Phillips only to rehire him later. He also noted that the McMahons' decision to settle the defamation lawsuit against Mushnick suggests they acknowledged the truth of his claims.
