WWE has announced the launch of WWE ID, short for WWE Independent Development, a new program designed to support and develop independent wrestling talent. The initiative aims to provide a clear pathway for up-and-coming wrestlers from the independent scene to WWE.
The program will designate select independent wrestling schools with the WWE ID label, offering new trainees and existing talent enhanced developmental opportunities. The first five schools to receive this designation are Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory in Atlanta, Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy in Davenport, Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center in Concord, and KnokX Pro Academy in Los Angeles.
WWE ID will provide financial support, training, mentorship, and access to world-class facilities to help independent wrestlers hone their skills and prepare for a potential career in WWE. The program also aims to raise the profile of and strengthen the independent wrestling ecosystem3.
Fans will have the opportunity to follow the journeys of standout prospects through curated behind-the-scenes content, highlights, and matches showcased across WWE’s social platforms.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque commented on the launch, saying,
“WWE ID is the latest in our efforts to identify and support the journey of up-and-coming wrestlers, in turn raising the profile of and strengthening the independent wrestling ecosystem.”
WWE ID marks the company’s latest foray into independent wrestling collaboration, following previous partnerships with promotions like EVOLVE, ICW, OTT, and PROGRESS. The program is expected to provide more wrestlers with the opportunity to sign full-time contracts and enjoy the benefits of being part of WWE.
